What does “LIFESTYLE” mean to Sojitz?
Sojitz in Your Town
While Sojitz’s condominium business started in the 1960s, in recent years, we have begun expanding our condominium construction and sale business under the “IMPREST” brand. Since 2007, IMPREST has worked to “meet customers’ unique needs,”with the IMPREST Okurayama complex’s environmentally-conscious design winning the Good Design Award from the Japan Institute of Design Promotion in 2014. We currently manage properties including office buildings, for-rent condominiums, and shopping centers.
Sojitz also handles the plywood, wood products, and home fixtures used in the construction of these condominiums. We import construction-grade lumber from North America, Europe, China, Russia, New Zealand, and Chile, and deal in equipment for shopping centers, factories, and public facilities, such as hospitals and schools.
Even Power Plants?!
Sojitz is working on power plants not only in Japan, but also in Central and South America, Asia, and the Middle East. Our Oman plant, for example, covers about 20% of the country’s total energy demand. We also use our experience in solar power and other renewable energy projects overseas to promote similar domestic projects. We have a long history of trading in thermal power generation-use coal and LNG, too.
Did you know that Sojitz handles the LCD displays, electrical parts, and plastics used in home appliances, as well as net-ready devices such as computers or smartphones? Sojitz helps connect consumers to the internet through our data center business which streamlines online operations. Since the servers naturally give off a lot of heat, we use the plant’s location in frigid Ishikari, Hokkaido to cool the equipment.
For our cars business, we not only provide support to automobile manufacturers expanding their operations overseas, but are also involved with overseas auto component and build-up businesses, as well as several dealerships in the Americas.
